2017 three CD collection re-issued with new artwork and revised tracklisting. It goes without saying that 1968 doesn’t have the same kind of cachet as 1967 – a year that, in musical terms, will always be indelibly associated with the Summer of Love, Sgt. Pepper and the emergence of psychedelia. But although the major players turned away from the excesses of the previous year in favor of a back-to-basics musical approach, there were arguably a greater number of psychedelic records made in 1968 than during the preceding twelve months. Vital, lysergically-inclined 45s emerged from a whole host of younger groups, with The Factory, Mike Stuart Span, Fleur de Lys, The Fire, The Barrier, Boeing Duveen, Rupert’s People and numerous others all releasing singles that have long been widely regarded by psychedelic collectors as genre classics. All these and more are gathered on Looking At The Pictures In The Sky, which provide a fascinating overview of the group scene in Britain (and Ireland!) in 1968, shining a light on unreleased gems, cult classics, choice album cuts, neglected B-sides and alternative versions. As with it’s 1967 equivalent Let’s Go Down And Blow Our Minds, the four-hour, 78-track anthology Looking At The Pictures In The Sky is housed in a striking clambox that contains a 44 page booklet crammed with biographical information and rare photographs of the featured acts.
Tracklist:
Although the fairy-tale cover suggests a very twee psychedelic album, Skip Bifferty goes for a somewhat grittier sound. Their instrumentation deviates a little from the norm, with the backbone of the sound being compressed drums, throbbing bass, and piano, on top of which the group slathers on some fine harmonies.

Description
ELMER GANTRY'S
VELVET OPERA
1968 UK DIRECTION STEREO 8-63300
A1-B2
A really stunning sounding uk freakbeat-psych album by the brilliantly named 'Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera'. A long name for a short lived British band that was formed in 1967 during the peak of British Psychedelia, they were definitely one of the most advanced and original bands from their era. The first band name option was to be 'The Velvet Opera', but Dave Terry appeared at one recording session wearing a long black cape and a preachers hat, the band immediately identified him with Sinclair Lewis fictional character 'Elmer Gantry' and in that moment his name changed and the band was baptized as 'Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera'.
This album is choc full of brilliant original late 60's psych-freakbeat tunes, it still sounds amazing today, there are no bad tracks on this album at all, the 'prog.archives' site gives this LP a really excellent rating of 4.75 out of a possible 5 and when you hear it you will know why, this is one of my favourite uk 60's albums of all time, if you like the Zombies 'Odyssey & Oracle', early 'Pink Floyd' and bands like Andwella's Dream, uk Kaleidoscope, Skip Bifferty and the Koobas then you will absolutely love 'Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera'. This copy is a real gem that looks near mint and has been barely played at all. A top uk psych album in top condition that will definitely not disappoint. Torrent roupa nova acustico.

THICK STEREO VINYL = NM (PLAYS A PERFECT MINT-)
Both sides of the thick stereo vinyl are in stunning NEAR MINT condition, there are no noticeable surface marks/scuffs, scratches, both sides still look very close to brand new showing barely any traces of play at all, there are just a few ultra light hard to spot sleeve withdrawal traces visible in stronger light, all tracks play EX+++/M- throughout with a brilliant very clear and clean sound quality that has no audible faults all, there really are no bad surface marks so there are no loud clicks, pop or annoying crackle, this is a top collectors copy in top collectors condition that plays faultlessly from beginning to end, this vinyl has been barely played at all and has been very well looked after and so will not need to be upgraded in the future. It's a real gem.
TEXTURED STEREO DIRECTION LABELS = NM
Both textured labels are in excellent very clean condition, there are no bad marks or faults and both still look as good today as they did on the day or print 40 years ago.
UPTON PRINT FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE = EX (NO FAULTS)
The front laminated single sleeve was made and printed in the uk by the Upton Printing Group. This cover is nice and strong and rigid with no bad faults at all and so grades a very nice excellent condition. The front lamination is in great condition having just two or three very light creases and also a minute area of bubbling right near the top edge, this really is very small and hardly worth mentioning at all. The top and bottom edges and spine are in excellent strong wear free condition, all spine text is bold and clear and very easy to read. The vinyl has not been removed or replaced from the cover very often at all so the opening edge is still nice and sharp with no feathering or weekened areas. The white matt back is still clean, there is some slight yellowing along the top edge and spine and some light signs of handling but this really is very minor, in the top left corner there is a small faded number written in blue biro, this back cover is still in very nice clean condition and has no unsightly blotches or stains. A excellent front laminated sleeve in excellent condition.
WHITE PAPER INNER SLEEVE = VG
The original white paper inner sleeve is in very good condition, there is some age yellowing but otherwise great. The vinyl has been kept in a more vinyl friendly poly-lined inner for many years, both will be packed and sent to the winning bidder.
